October half term opening
Face Coverings
Legacy XS require all non-participating skatepark users to wear a face covering.
Legacy XS comes under this category:
visitor attractions and entertainment venues (museums, galleries, cinemas, theatres, concert halls, cultural and heritage sites, aquariums, indoor zoos and visitor farms, bingo halls, amusement arcades, adventure activity centres, indoor sports stadiums, funfairs, theme parks, casinos, skating rinks, bowling alleys, indoor play areas including soft-play areas)
This means that we are included in the public places where you MUST wear a face covering by law. You are expected to wear a face covering before entering any of these settings and must keep it on until you leave unless there is a reasonable excuse for removing it.
In settings where face coverings are required in England, there are some circumstances where people may not be able to wear a face covering. Please be mindful and respectful of such circumstances, noting that some people are less able to wear face coverings, and that the reasons for this may not be visible to others.
This includes (but is not limited to):
- children under the age of 11 (Public Health England does not recommend face coverings for children under the age of 3 for health and safety reasons)
- people who cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability
- where putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress
- if you are speaking to or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading, clear sound or facial expressions to communicate
- to avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others ‒ including if it would negatively impact on your ability to exercise or participate in a strenuous activity
- police officers and other emergency workers, given that this may interfere with their ability to serve the public
There are also scenarios when you are permitted to remove a face covering:
- if asked to do so in a bank, building society, or post office for identification
- if asked to do so by shop staff or relevant employees for identification, for assessing health recommendations (for example by a pharmacist), or for age identification purposes including when buying age restricted products such as alcohol
- if required in order to receive treatment or services, for example when getting a facial
- in order to take medication
- if you are delivering a sermon or prayer in a place or worship
- if you are the persons getting married in a relevant place
- if you are aged 11 to 18 attending a faith school and having lessons in a place of worship as part of your core curriculum
- if you are undertaking exercise or an activity and it would negatively impact your ability to do so
- if you are an elite sports person, professional dancer or referee acting in the course of your employment
- When seated to eat or drink in a hospitality premise such as a pub, bar, restaurant or cafe. You must put a face covering back on once you finish eating or drinking

Sessions return from Mon 14th Sept 2020

We now have a max limit of participants per session. This is a maximum of 15 people.
To combat people being turned away we are going to be implementing a voluntary pre booking system.
Simply call 01268 565650 during our opening hours and our staff will book you in for the session(s) you wish to ride in.
There is no pre payment needed to book a session. If your session is full we reserve the right to only hold the booking for the first 15 minutes of the session on which if you do not arrive we will give your space to someone who may be waiting on the day and time for that session.
If you are struggling to arrive on time please call ahead and let us know and we will hold that space for you.
To be clear you DO NOT need to pre book to use the skatepark but this is a way of guaranteeing access to a session you wish to ride in.
Bookings for Term time sessions are available now and run up until the Christmas holidays.
Contactless payment is preferred when possible.
Covid-19 update Aug 2020
Covid update for Leagcy XS August 2020:
As you are aware many businesses and Charities have struggled in the current situation around the Coronavirus.
Legacy XS is no different, It has been hard to be closed for such a chunk of the year and we are only now able to begin our process to reopening our doors.
With Staff moving from full-time Furlough work is now beginning to prepare the facility to reopen to the public.
This however is not a phase that will happen overnight, so please be patient with us.
We are currently looking to open for public sessions in September however we do hope to be in a place to offer small group hires before then but this is dependent on the work that must be undertaken first.
It is a hard time for many and we look forward to being able to open our doors once again for all who have been waiting patiently, we wish you all the best and hope to see you all soon.
The Legacy XS Team.

thanks for the understanding and sorry for any inconvenience this can cause, we wish we could be open all year round but this is something at this time we cannot afford if we wish to be here in the long term and continue our work with young people in the community and at the skatepark itself.
All the best

Should you wish to appeal against your ban you should contact the Centre in writing and your case will be reviewed by a Trustee.
Health & Safety Policy
In light of the increase in popularity of Legacy XS among young scooter riders we have reviewed our sessions and procedures to ensure that users of the centre are kept as safe as possible..
It must be reiterated that Legacy XS caters for participants in Extreme Sports and, as a consequence, there are dangers associated with this usage for all members of the Centre making use of the ramps.
It is important therefore, that users and parents understand the dangers faced by participants in these sports particularly in relation to the inexperience of riders or skaters. We are particularly conscious of the increase of risk as a result of overcrowding and the mix of disciplines and levels of experience. As a result of this assessment the following measures are now in place to provide for appropriate risk management:
A skatepark marshal will supervise the indoor park between 10am and 4pm interacting with users and ensuring that potential safety concerns are identified and addressed immediately (overcrowding, dangerous actions of individuals etc)
10 – 11am will be set aside as a “beginners only” session with those deemed to be “more advanced” users asked to leave the park until the hour has passed. It will be up to individual beginners to decide on whether they continue in the park after 11am.
The indoor ramps will be open to Scooters only between 10am and 1pm. Outdoor ramps will continue to be available to BMXers and Skateboarders subject to suitable weather conditions.
1pm – 4pm will be mixed session indoors supervised by a Marshal.
4pm – 8pm No scooters will be allowed inside in wet weather
The Trustees and Staff involved in reviewing the safety issues believe that these measures will demonstrate the Charity’s commitment to safety as well as adding additional safeguards to the young people who make use of the XS Centre.
